Competitive

We offer a variety of competitive programs at all competitive ages. Our programs cater to all ability levels, beginning at local, and moving through provincial to national and international levels. Admission to the program is based on the recommendation of the Competitive Program Director.

CCGC Competitive programs challenge athletes to achieve their personal goals and be the best that they can be. By offering high quality coaching and training methods consistent with international standards, personal excellence is achieved at Provincial, National, International and Olympic levels.

Xcel

Xcel is a USA Gymnastics sanctioned recreational-competitive team, adopted by Gymnastics Canada. In the last several years, Xcel has developed into its own full program, with levels Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. These levels coincide with the Junior Olympic Levels in the High-Performance route.

The gymnasts will have their own routines which they will have the opportunity to compete!

The gymnasts work with the coaches and will pick floor music befitting their personality and style. Our competition season for Xcel begins in January and typically ends in early May; however, Xcel team girls train 10 months a year (September to June), with the option to continue training during the summer to maintain and advance their skills.

The Xcel program was created to keep gymnasts involved and excited about the sport. In many other sports, athletes can start competing in games and tournaments very quickly after they begin. However, with gymnastics, this is not the reality. Athletes in gymnastics will train for several years before meeting the necessary requirements to be able to compete. The Xcel program bridges the gap and allows gymnasts to start competing sooner, by lowering the skill requirements at the entry level.

In addition to the basic entry levels, the Xcel program also has more advanced levels that allow gymnasts to keep competing in the Xcel program as they progress to higher level skills. The Xcel program is ideal for not only entry-level gymnasts, but also older gymnasts that are looking for a fun way to stay in shape and be involved in the sport.

CCP

Canadian Competitive Program (CCP) is a high level WAG program that develops advanced skills and is structured into compulsory and optional levels - it was developed with the belief that all athletes must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely to more advanced levels. Designed by Gymnastics Canada to develop advanced technical skills, discipline, and physical fitness in serious gymnasts.

CCP is divided into two streams:

Compulsory Program (Levels 1-5): Focuses on building a solid foundation of technique and basic skills through standardized routines for each apparatus.

Optional Program (Levels 6-10): Shifts the focus to developing more complex and advanced technical skills, with gymnasts performing their own personalized routine.

CCP allows gymnasts to advance at their own pace, competing in more than one competitive level in the year if they have mastered all of the required skills. As a gymnast moves through the CCP levels, more competitive opportunities become available to them including Provincial Championships, BC Winter Games, Westerns and National Championships. This is a program for girls with a strong work ethic who enjoy competing, want to develop high-level gymnastic skills, are committed to training 3 times a week or more and have a strong support system. Artistic gymnastics at this level requires regular attendance, continued progression and long term commitment.

At CCGC, we strive to provide quality gymnastics in a positive, safe and enjoyable environment while supporting athletes in the physical, mental and social development.
