Canadian Competitive Program (CCP) is a high level WAG program that develops advanced skills and is structured into compulsory and optional levels - it was developed with the belief that all athletes must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely to more advanced levels. Designed by Gymnastics Canada to develop advanced technical skills, discipline, and physical fitness in serious gymnasts.
CCP is divided into two streams:
Compulsory Program (Levels 1-5): Focuses on building a solid foundation of technique and basic skills through standardized routines for each apparatus.
Optional Program (Levels 6-10): Shifts the focus to developing more complex and advanced technical skills, with gymnasts performing their own personalized routine.
CCP allows gymnasts to advance at their own pace, competing in more than one competitive level in the year if they have mastered all of the required skills. As a gymnast moves through the CCP levels, more competitive opportunities become available to them including Provincial Championships, BC Winter Games, Westerns and National Championships. This is a program for girls with a strong work ethic who enjoy competing, want to develop high-level gymnastic skills, are committed to training 3 times a week or more and have a strong support system. Artistic gymnastics at this level requires regular attendance, continued progression and long term commitment.
At CCGC, we strive to provide quality gymnastics in a positive, safe and enjoyable environment while supporting athletes in the physical, mental and social development.
